Viewer crashes in SSH tunnel changing half to normal size

Post by wingeftar »

While running an SSH tunnel via PuTTY v0.60, if I change the viewer window from half back to normal size, the viewer crashes. This doesn't happen if I connect the viewer directly to the server. The server is running on WinXP Pro XP3 and the viewer is on Win XP Home XP3. The client settings are at their defaults. The NIC on each end is GBitEnet.

-thanks

I can't help you except to say I've always found tunneling VNC this way to be unstable. Maybe just bad luck.

You could try different compression / encoding settings though. You might also use a DSMPlugin or VPN setup in lieu of the SSH tunnel.

this a known issue unrelated to SSH anyway and solved.
update your winvnc and vncviewer to 1.0.9.6
you can try vncviewer 1.0.9.6 before update winvnc if solve your issue. you won't need update your vnc server.

Using the latest SecureVNCPlugin.dsm has made connections stable with repeated window resizing. Thanks for the response.

thank for your solution
did you use msrc4plugin before securevncplugin ?
if that, we can't find, you won't tell us you have msrc4plugin + SSH tunnel = double security
