I tried the same thing at home. Different computer, different network, same problem. But I think I figured it out now: I used alphanumeric characters for the ID. :-]
It seems to work when using only numbers. I'll try that at the office on monday. Have a nice weekend.

The Windows firewall popped up us usual and I unblocked the traffic.
But from what I've learned, when making a connection I have to start the viewer first and that's when I get the error message. How does it make a difference whether the remote server (which I would start later) is on the same ...

Pretty sure. But what does port testing actually do? Could there still be some router or firewall blocking the connection?

I managed to make a direct connection to another pc over lan. Then I tried to make a connection via Repeater "repeater01.ultravnc.info" and with parameters suggested in Thread: [topic=9663][/topic]
but when I start the viewer it tries to connect and after 1 or 2 seconds I get the above message. Port ...
