To confirm: Have you configured the MS Logon groups that have access?
Only local admins have access by default so unless you have specfied the limited user account, or a group that account is a member of, it will not work.

I wonder whether anyone can tell me whether there is a VNC client for the Intel Apple Macs that supports the use of the UltraVNC Repeater?

It would be useful if the UltraVNC client was configured to look for a repeater using a DNS entry.
For example:
