It's been my experience the "Smart Defrag" does a faster and more complete job. It also has more user controls.
Regarding Windows XP, there's no background capability.

I did shutdown and restart the UltraVNC Viewer between changes. I made the changes at the Server PC.

Hi Supercoe,
I've got one for you to ponder.
Still using UltraVNC 1.0.8.2, I tried your suggestion and checked "Enable Alpha Blending".
The "Smart Defrag" GUI still did not appear on the remote PC, and I lost the "Right Click" menu display on the remote PC.

Re: Issue when running "Smart Defrag v2" under Windows XP
Thanks for the Info Supercoe. From your responce, I would do well to upgrade from UltraVNC 1.0.8.2 to 1.0.9.6; perhaps that would also correct the GUI display problem.

Issue when running "Smart Defrag v2" under Windows XP
I'm currently running UltraVNC Server 1.0.8.2 on a Windows XP machine & the UltraVNC Vierwer on a Windows Vista machine. I had no major issues since January 2010.
I installed "Smart Defrag v2" on the Windows XP machine, it functions without issue and as long as I'm at the Windows XP PC I can ...

Are you saying that the JAVA viewer is actually being uploaded from the UltraVNC Server to the remote browser? If that's the case then I can definately see why simply changing the port forwarding won't work; as you said the Viewer would get it's port assignment from UltraVNC Server.

Yeah. I know about changing the listening port on UltraVNC, I just thought that it would be easier to obsure the port to the external world without touching UltraVNC by utilizing the port forwarding. Still don't understand why it doesn't work.

Thanks again for the reply. This may explain an enomaly I was having when port forwarding on my router. Everytime I setup port forwarding (i.e. 5858 > 5800 & 5959 > 5900) the Java app would connect to the target machine, but fail to display the login. However, while the Chrome browser would also ...

Re: UltraVNC Security & Java
B,
Thanks for the reply. I really don't understand the UltraVNC architecture, I would have thought that the two port would have been treated independently, allowing the Java access to continue unimpeded by the insertion of a DSM, as you noted Java does not support DSM's.

UltraVNC Security & Java
I noticed that if I install a security DSM plugin, for secure comm between the client and server, the Java browser access does not connect. I understand that the browser interface would not be secure, but I would have thought that since the Java interface utilizes a separate port (5800), it would ...

Re: Microsoft does not want VNC to work
I've been using UltraVNC 1.0.5.1 for over an year; using the UltraVNC Viewer on a Windows Vista PC to access the Server on a Windows XP machine without any major issues.
I have also done the reverse, but not nearly as frequently.

Issue with Windows Vista Taskbar
I updated from UltraVNC 1.0.5.1 to 1.0.8.2 on two PC's; one Windows Vista and one Windows XP.
