In my similar case, viwer side "-noauto" option cure the problem.
I'm using, "vncviewer -noauto -8greyColors -encoding tight".
(Yes, this setting is for very slooow connection)
still same but where can i see all the -options i can wrote?
i think i will try to use windows auth +dummy password ...

i have same problem, using singleclick
vnc server is in 2003 x64 and clients are XP x32
i am logging with RDP into 2003x64.
and vnc log is: --Overlapped I/O operation is in progress.
Also mslogon.log shows invalid attempts from clientip.
