Something else I noticed (which may be fixed in the GM build, maybe?)

I had 1.1.0 (and 1.1.1) 32-bit installed, then upgraded to 1.1.5 64.

I uninstalled all 3 before installing that "new" 1.1.5 64 build.

when looking at C:\Program Files\unvc bvba\UltraVNC

There are still old versions of the ...

Installed 1.1.6_x64 over 1.1.5_x64 on my Windows 8 64 machine.

Programs and features says 1.1.6 is installed.

But "About WinVNC" -- still says 1.1.5 (build: Nov 11 15:58:00)

Viewer -- says x64 1.1.6

Typo in the "About" box?

Maybe this is by design?

On my Windows 8 test machine, I had 1.1.0 installed (32 bit). I had updated this to 1.1.1 (32 bit) at some point.

This morning, I installed the new 1.1.5 *64bit* version on top of this install. "Programs and Features" shows that I have 3 versions of UltraVNC installed (1.1 ...

Actually, it *is* simpler (and thanks for that). I just wanted to confirm that...

When I downloaded the 1.1.5 64bit setup.exe to my Windows 8 desktop, Windows Defender is still flagging the installer with a "Medium" alert level.

Have you (Rudi) reported this to Microsoft to get them to ease up on the alert?

Wait -- I'm confused with all the new downloads and name changes...

I installed the "UltraVNC_1_1_4_SetupX64" build on this machine.

However, after installation, if I select "About WinVNC" -- it says "UltraVNC Win32 Server 1.1.4"

Can you clarify something?

If I want to use this as a VNC *client* only...

Do I just run the UltraVNC_1_1_4_Setup.exe installer only?

Or do I also need to run the "Addons" installer as well?

I have to set up an old Windows 2003 Server here for some very specific software.

I have been using 1.1.4 on my WIndows 7 and Windows 8 clients with no problems so far.


Is there any chance the "xp" version of 1.1.4 is supported on Windows 2003 Server? If not, is one of the older versions ...

Unfortunately Microsoft Security Essentials still flags the 1.0.9.6.2 setup.exe file as a potentially unwanted program...
