One of those programs, Zone Screen - http://www.zoneos.com/zonescreen.htm, is the only free program I've found that is meant to connect two Windows PCs over a network, to simulate a dual-monitor setup. Extended desktop over network?

There are some commercial programs such as Maxivista, which allow you to extend your desktop to a laptop over a network. Would it be possible to tweak UltraVNC to give it this functionality?
