any chance you could give a quick run-through of how this is hosted?
I'd like to test it on my site. Do the source files need to be on the web server for this to work or do I need to configure some things?

Guess not. Boy I'd figure this would be an in-demand option, no? How are you guys using SC??? I'm a pc/networking tech with 20-30 service calls a week. This is my most important project. Is this not an important aspect of the business? What are people using SC for?

Definately. If i have a tech who is on the road and a client calls him for help, he could be able to browse to our site, and run a small viewer with a script that pops up and asks for an ID. This would then connect to our repeater which our client would be connecting to with SC. BEEN LOOKING FOR ...

Since vncviewer has command line options, can a script be written to ask for an ID and automate a repeater connection ?

This would be ideal when using SC and a support tech has to make a connection via repeater.

Instead of running viewer and manually entering repeater address::port and ID ...

If you create the SC executeable with multiple support [HOST] options pointing to different ports like

5500
5501
5502

and forward them to different ip's in your router, does that accomplish the task?

Assuming your running RC203 ...

perhaps each [HOST] could be represented by a text button?

maybe some can't grasp the idea double-clicking on text to get results unless it looks like a webpage

I am by no means a programmer, and have much to learn about such things BUT I am very persistant and am always willing to learn new stuff.

My setup:
SC client ~ internet ~ router ~ repeater ~ vncviewer workstation

Using SC with ID prompt, repeater on my lan & viewer on multiple workstations.

Current setup:

tech gives client their ID ####
client runs SC & enters ID
tech opens viewer
tech enters proxy "Repeater_IP:port"
tech enters ...

I answered my own question; it can. What is important when using this syntax is the double colon... correct?

The program must differentiate the server::port from the ID:#### due to the double colon...... I was getting errors when using

vncviewer.exe -proxy xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:5901 ID:xxxx

Maybe he doesn't know about the [ENTERCODE] command that opens the circular ID box on the client end.

Although this option is in the .exe, it doesn't come written in the helpdesk.txt file and must be manually typed in (following the helpdesk.txt syntax instructions) in order to work.

This sounds like a good idea. Almost a solution to my inquiry of having a queue for the tech end....

More than that, it would create automation for "un-inclined" helpdesk personnel who just need to give support with a minimal amount of configuration to connect... just a session identifier.

Very good point. Every aspect of SC works as intended. With some goofing around it can be made to represent a company and is completely configureable- right down to the icons.
