Just how does that link qualify as a link to "documentation"? Am I missing something on that page it takes me to? There is nothing there. I even searched on the words "installation" and "configuration". There is nothing on that page -- top, bottom, center, left, or right -- that says "installation and configuration".

I clicked on the link and it came up with several options under those topics with subtopics and detailed instructions not sure why you are having issues getting to it.. :|

It just takes me to the homepage. The link that I found to be most useful was this one: [topic=5890][/topic]

I have jimpeel's experience. Clicking bevtech's "online documentation" link takes me to: https://uvnc.com/ which is just ultravnc's home page.

Next, going to this URL [topic=2845][/topic] and clicking Oliver's link labeled http://doc.ultravnc.net/ takes you here instead: https://uvnc.com/man/ -- The link may read http://doc.ultravnc.net/ but that's not where you end up by clicking it.

Furthermore, going to this URL: https://uvnc.com/man/ takes me to a practically empty page with the single word "Tutorials" in rather small font. This happens in Firefox, Opera and IE.

All this has convinced me that I don't even want to try UltraVNC. Keep working on it; maybe by the 22nd century you'll have links that work right.
Work for and trust the powerful few.
What's best for them is best for you.

Squarepegger,

You have a PM from me.

It took me some doing but I was able to get the program to run flawlessly. I have since repaired a couple of my friend's computers remotely with great success.

I have given you my e-mail addy in the PM if you want to talk.

This truly is a great program.

FWIW I've tried reading the FAQs but it asks for my password (why on earth should you need a password to read FAQs???) Unfortunately however, when I enter my user name and password, they get rejected.

If you want people to read the FAQs surely you need to make it easy, not difficult .!

Sorry, John, you're right. There was (and is) something wrong with the permissions on that subforum, and I think the administrator was looking into it. (It stemmed from our migration to the new version of the forum software.) I'll give him a nudge.

Also, I notice that none of the old links to documentation above work either. My apologies! The project has never had the best documentation in my opinion. :(

The above link (https://uvnc.com/onlinehelp/index.html) directs me to a page (without links) that reads "The links above will hopefully help you in questions that you may have." Perhaps this needs to be a different link? As a beginner, this is a rough way to start. :)
