SUSE 10 - listening vnc server

Post by fledermaus »

hi there,

I installed suse 10 recently with kde as an xwindow system. I'm using vnc SC quite often and I'm really pleased with it. But now I have a problem:

I would like to have a vnc instance running on my suse linux machine so if anyone needs help, I can takeover their desktop on that machine.

Does anyone knows:

- how can I start a listening connection on port 5500 in suse kde
- how to make sure the listening connection automatically starts up

I really hope someone can help me out since I've been looking around for a few days without any succes...

thanks :crazy:

Xvnc
with OneclickVNC (tightvnc server) to tightvncviewer would solve your issue
[topic=6388][/topic]

other workaround
run wine on your linux for use UltraVNC viewer and UltraVNC Server (SC)
UltraVNC 1.0.9.6.1 (built 20110518)
Windows OS: XP Home + Vista Business + 7 Home
Only experienced user, not developer

hey thanks for the workarounds but is it so difficult to just make an instance of vnc listen on port 5500 in suse kde? I thought it couldn't be that hard... :-(
