I think its pretty cool :-) you can zoom and pan so its kindof got a google maps feel to it. You double click a computer to VNC to it. You get indicators of whether a machine is on or not, red off, green on, various shades show you latency. You can get quick access to the c$ share, and compmgmt. I'll probably release it as open source but only under the please don't laugh at my crappy code :-) license.

If you can look past the code though I think the concept is neat... I could easily image a company making an ajaxy version so I could google map navigate all my servers and desktops. (If anyone does anything cool with this ,give me a small bit of credit) since Michael Ellerbeck = Starving College student :-)

Is there any beta version available?

Have you thought to add an import feature from .vnc/.csv/.tsv files or active directory?

I'll put an alpha version up on sourceforge, I'll post again when its live. Yes I have thought about an import feature I think it would be pretty useful!

I threw up some code so you play with it. Its crappy code. But fun to zoom around viewing your computers, and it lets me know if computers are on or not!

it's 4am here and I'm an ideas trip :)

Overlay the whole thing onto google maps, using actual coords as the placement for the links.

Then use a geographical IP mapping database (by either connection IP and/or repeater IP - whichever isnt a private ip [ie not in subnets 10.0.0.0/8, 172.16.0.0/12, 192.168.0.0/16 or 127.0.0.0/8]) to make a guess at initial locations for the links :)

Probably all too complex for the near term though. :)
