FT: show transfer speed

Post by netwolf »

Well, the topic says it: IMO it would be nice to have the current (and maybe also average) file transfer speed displayed somewhere in the file transfer window.

I understand how that would be useful for some people, but I vote against it. I use dumeter (Download/Upload) and It has been the most reliable meter I have ever used. When set to instant (vs average) I can tell when .1 kbps are moving. It comes in a small window that I shrink to just larger then the text on this screen, and stick at the bottom of my screen.

So ya, I wouldn't find it useful at all. I think there are better things to spend time on. Though, this would be better then some things I can think of.

Well, I know and use DUMeter too, and I like it, but it doesn´t do the same thing as the feature I requested.

DUMeter displays the entire traffic of the network adapter, not only traffic caused by UVNC (or any other app).

So if there is any other traffic (downloads, LAN-traffic etc.), it´s impossible to determine the speed of an UVNC file transfer.

Besides, it shouldn´t take too much time implementing a (approximate, doesn´t have to be accurate) GUI speed output :)
