Basic DSM Help Needed

Post by J-Nice »

Here is what I did on the UltraVNC Server:

Installed UltraVNC to C:\Program Files\UltraVNC

Copied MSRC4Plugin.dsm to C:\Program Files\UltraVNC

In the User Properties Page, checked "Use DSM Plugin" and used MSRC4Plugin.dsm.

Clicked Config and generated a new key. Copied the key to my viewer machine under C:\Program Files\UltraVNC.

On the viewer machine copied MSRC4Plugin.dsm to C:\Program Files\UltraVNC.

Is this the right process for using the Plugin/Key? If not, can anyone point me in the right direction?

Here is the error message I recieve when attempting to connect to the server:

Connection Failed - Invalid Protocol !

Possible Causes:

- You've forgotten to select a DSMPlugin and the Server Uses a DSMPlugin
- The selected DSMPlugin is no compatible with the one running on the Server
- The selected DSMPlugin is not correctly configured
- The password you've possible entered is incorrect.

Thanks, good piece of software except for this. Hopefully I am just using the wrong process to copy the key.

Connection failed -

yes the dsm and the key goes into that folder so you are right on that point.

I would check what it says the most likely causes are - Ensure the server has the checkbox checked.. and also ensure on the viewer that you have it checked using the right key.

Fixed the DSMPlugin Issue

IPSec, thanks for the reply, I double-checked what you told me. It was all good.

Anyway, I just simply restarted the VNCServer Service on the box and we're good 2 go.

Now off to tackle using the new MSLOGIN. Should be cool.
