Next update around 15/03 (add bugs, change requests)

Post by Rudi De Vos »

We keep track of the reports and are changing source to fix reported issue's.
Sorry, no time to answer all post seperate...

If possible, add new request/bugs to this thread, it's simpler to have them all together.

Hi, thank you the app is really taking shape, and today was the first time I made someone smile when they didn't have to download the app, but just say "yes"

latest requests/ideas

Hopefully, I haven't completely misunderstood this, but I haven't found the information just now, but somehow, the app a some point disabled UAC on my pc.
- Is there a way to have more control over UAC, e.g.
* SC - to turn off (if not already off) when run, then back to state at start on when exit SC,
* Service - to switch UAC off only while running desktop session, then back on again once completed?
* perhaps the ini could have several choices eg 0 - never change UAC, 1 always disable UAC, 2 disable UAC while running desktop only, and enable UAC at other times 3 alway enable UAC

- Could there be a single place for documentation of the ini file settings somewhere? linked via help menu of viewer?

- at one point today when controlling a vista PC, even though I had been granted desktop control and was successfully controlling their desktop, the icon kept showing as the "incorrect password" icon (computer screen with cross) and blinking every few seconds

- here's hoping (!), any chance for a linux version of the server? would be easy for me to sneak in to a server or vm somewhere

- possibly offer signing service/sell signed exe's to us to help fund development?

Hi

I managed to work out much of my issues on my w7x64 PC with setting up p2p:
- Virtualbox even though unused for a long time recently caused me a lot of problems with networking (also with pptp vpn), had to uninstall something from properties of network connection/adaptor
- openvpn. when connected, causes pchelpware to not be able to setup p2p (even though all traffic is not sent through the vpn)

* possible fix: Set bound adaptor(s) (eg lan and wlan), in viewer settings somewhere?

Other ideas:
* annoyance: "flickering" network pane in viewer- any chance to reduce the flickering - in particular, the hosts can swap position or disappear sometimes when you are trying to click them
* annoyance: select/right click - might be good to allow direct right-click of host, now you have to click first, then right click to get the menu
* possible change: rename setup/stop p2p to "connect"/"disconnect"?

Yes RC3, thanks Rudi.

other ideas:-

- how about a "last contacted server date/time" for host when you hover the mouse over in the network pane, I notice that even if a host is switched off, it shows up, when I setup p2p, nothing happens - perhaps an error/ notification event to say could not be contacted? Or even a way to remove host from list remotely (with valid group password??) at least until the host reconnects. Or even "refresh group" which will flush the group until next contacted.
- wrong password for host, if the host is a member of the group, shouldn't the password be correctly applied anyway? even so, how about a prompt for a new password when the password is wrong, or perhaps have a log pane underneath the network pane, that can be shown that would show useful "notification events" like this?
- possible bug - I was using service on one laptop to control just now, and suddenly I lost control of just one explorer window, and the start button. I still had control of the desktop, could launch new windows, but once relaunched still could not control it. I tried to refresh/restart desktop control but no fix. I resolved by going to the laptop and logging out and back in again, then had control again, but wonder what caused it?
