1.0.9.6.2 on Win7 Pro 64-bit popping out of Aero

Post by bamim2 »

I'm using version 1.0.9.6.2 on my Win7 Pro 64-bit & WinXP systems. When I've connected to my W7 box after a while UVNC "Pops" Win7 out of Aero Graphics mode. It doesn't seem to matter which of my XP boxes I access it with, they all seem to forces W7 out of Aero. If no VNC connection is made, I never have the issue. The Win7 box has a 1GB Sapphire Graphics card, 12FB of RAM with a 3.07GHz i3CPU. It's not a Super system, but it should be able to handle the graphics mode easily. I'm also using the MV Hook Driver on W7.

If anybody can help me with this I'd certainly appreciate it. Is there a setting I need to set/unset or something? Do I need to a voodoo dance or wear a necklace of chicken heads & garlic & dance around a fire at midnight or something?

MV Hook Driver disable aero. ( This is how MS made it work)
VNC Server option "disable aero" ON ?

I'm not sure if I understand your first statement correctly. Are saying Microsoft designed the graphics mode for VNC to pop it out of Aero on purpose?

The Server setting to 'remove aero' is not checked, so it's not ON.

Are there any other settings that should be set a certain way? I did notice that if I checked the "Video Hook Driver" check box, it pops Windows 7 out aero mode as soon as I click "apply", so I unchecked that one.

How about "Max Cpu"? Or "System HoodDll"? Would either of those settings cause 'problems' with aero mode?

Microsoft designed the graphics mode for "Mirror drivers" to pop it out of Aero on purpose.
mirror driver =xpdm
aero require =wddm
When mixing wddm and xpdm all behave like xpdm -> no aero

There is also something else.
The wdm manager monitor the performance of the graphics, if the graphic subsystem is stressed aero get's disabled
by wdm manager. Possible, if you have a card with a graphic win7 index of 2.

system hookdll= ON if no mirror driver is used, it makes it a little faster.
If you lower max cpu, there are less updates -> less impact.
