Does anybody know how to manually remove UltraVNC 1.0.2 completely?
I have installed this version onto a notebook, but did not get prompted for a password (Admin Properties) on initial setup, even though I ticked the box when prompted in the Install routine. Now I am unable to access the UVNC server, even though the VNC Service appears to be running.
There is no "Blue Eye" icon in the system tray.
I have tried accessing the admin tool to set a password through the "Show Default Settings" shortcut, but this doesn't load the "Default Local System Properties" dialogue. I get a message telling me that the service cannot be contacted.
I have uninstalled UVNC via Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel and tried reinstalling it to no avail.
I think that if I could find a way to set the password then this may fix the problem. Otherwise a complete removal of the program (including ALL registry keys and files) should give me a fair chance at reinstalling successfully.
Any help is appreciated - this is driving me NUTS!!!
Thanks

Completely remove UltraVNC (installation problems)
Re: Completely remove UltraVNC (installation problems)
Have you verified if the VNC Server service was really running?schilling wrote:Now I am unable to access the UVNC server, even though the VNC Service appears to be running.
You can check it at: START\RUN
Input this: services.msc [Enter]
Now the Service Manager is opened, seek the "VNC Server", if it is "Not Started" or "Stopped", start it first.
Then open a DOS CMD window, and goto the folder of UltraVNC, run this command:
winvnc.exe -defaultsettings
(This will open the uvnc admin. properties windows) or
winvnc.exe -servicehelper
(This will place the EYE icon on the system tray)
1. Open a DOS CMD windows, goto the uvnc folder, run this command:schilling wrote:how to manually remove UltraVNC 1.0.2 completely?
winvnc.exe -remove
(this will remove the uvnc service)
2. run the regedit.exe, seek & remove these two key:
HKCU\Software\ORL
HKLM\Software\ORL
3. Delete the folder of UltraVNC

Is this still valid in 2017? I need to completly purge ultravnc, but our inventory software is still indicating that uvnc is still installed.
