Portable UltraVNC Viewer & Portable UltraVNC Server

Hi, has anyone created or aware of a "portable" UltraVNC viewer ?

That is, you have all the necessary files in a folder in your USB drive, and u just need to double click on a shorcut or a modified shortcut or on a batch file, to run it ... without keeping any record, in the host computer that it is using ?

Has anyone created or aware of such UltraVNC server ? (Not the ultravnc SC server).

It should have such features : No installation required. Leaves no unnecessary record in the host. May be even executable through/by using 1 batch file to start, and another batch file to stop, or other suitable executioner/gui-helper wrapper.

Both vnc viewer & vnc server doing only outbound connection to connect to each other, that is they are using a middleman ... (an online repeater/reflector server that you have pre-setup for this purpose), so no port opening steps involve, (except the middleman srvr).

... I think, the vnc JavaViewer can be used from a USB drive ? through a batch file, if the host has Java installed.

It can also be implemented along with a local/custom HTML file, and placed inside one of the available Portable Firefox browser's folder, and that HTML file being made its Homepage to launch it rightaway after running the portable firefox, from the USB drive.

(1) Will vnc JavaViewer leave any sensitive info in that host ?

(2) Does vnc JavaViewer have the features of using it in a very very SLOW/Low bw(bandwidth) server connection ?

And finally is there such portable vnc Server ? (not the lightweight SC server, but a full-scale uvnc server).

The "GoToServers" company has released VNC Viewer java version applet, (GPL),
see here http://www.gotoservers.com/vncviewer.html.
Thats portable, and cross-platform (or platform-independent) also.

Same company also released VNC Java Server Applet (GSVNCJ). (LGPL).
Its portable & cross-platform also. It used partial codes from this(vncjlgpl) sf project.
But its Free Only for Non-Commercial uses.

Java SSH+VNC Server applet client, (GPL), to be used through & integrated into SSHTools, can be found here : SSHTools.
Its portable. Encryption is done through SSH secure tunnel.

User "Tc" mentioned/showed [topic=5185]here[/topic], how to use the vnc SC server as a standalone vnc server. Looks like at this point this is another one of the best alternative, other than using Java based VNC Servers.

Anyone knows of a way to force the vnc server (not the sc server) to not store any type/form of password in the windows registry ?
please share the process with rest of us, thanks.
In my opinion, saving IP or other settings are ok, but saving the password or other hash stuff in registry are not acceptable at all for a program to become "portable" category by nature.

Rudi informed us there, how to use the UltraVNC Server where vnc password can be kept inside a "ini" file, and how to make a custom installation. Such installation can be considered (partially) as Portable version.
He further informed us that at least in XP, password will not be saved in registry, but Vista's "virtual" registry may do so. Others showed how to load it as a service.

So the question again, how can UltraVNC Server be configured to use in Vista & XP & other win OS, so that it DoesN't save or leave any trace(s)/record(s) of any password(s) or key(s) in the registry ? !

Why don't you put the minimum files on a usb stick
server
winvnc.exe
schook.dll
ultravnc.ini
viewer
vncviewer.exe

create the ultravnc.ini on your system
preset passwd etc...before copy to usb

Ryan was only helping my host it. See my other post in your other topic for more info. I'll also include a link in this topic, as well as the other one, since they seem relevant enough to each other.

On a side note, I don't think I'll EVER do a uvnc SERVER portable, it would be too tempting for people to misuse it. I used to be an assistant programming instructor, and there is a story about said misuse, but that's best left for another day.
