Re: Remote Access Control - Donationware!

Post by Robin »

The following is in the pipe-line for a future release --->

a) Up to 25 connections PER HOST!;
b) Ability to assign Tech-Names to ports for easier Identification;
c) A complete "overhaul/replacement" of the current helpdesk.txt Menu.

If any of you guys got some more "ideas", please feel free and add it in this thread. Also please note that RAC takes time to modify/add-on, so time will be a factor here as i have a 24/7 job.
Unfortunately, I can only add features I think would be feasible as I don't want RAC to become "Study" material ;)

I love it! works great and has the features that I am looking for. For me the one thing I need is to support repeater. Then I can go where ever I need to and still provide support! Just an idea for future releases!

Thanks again for all your hard work!

Thx for the reply...
Far as i can recall, you could still use RAC...Just re-create a helpdesk.exe file(new) from wherever you are. With a repeater, you STILL need to forward 1 port if you change routers/destination...Ive even tried RAC on a pc connected with a Cellphone. You must remember...RAC is based on SC and NOT Server...

==============Beta Version==============

Updated 2 Aug 2009
1) Button PORT MANAGER added to asign Customer or Tech to ports;
2) Can now listen to 25 ports per Host;
3) If you "accidently" pressed "Monitor Connections", the RESTORE SETTINGS will fix this "loop" up for ya ;)
4) Now with a handy Utility called "The Wizard" embedded!

See beginning of thread for download details!

Hi Robin
For what I read this looks good to eat. :P I have 3 Q's do:

1-I run uvnc 105 server/viewer so I can access my computer remotely
and create SC (old) for my clients (friends) with XP, would your program
requires to update to latest uvnc? is it included in your package ?.

2-In Vista, as stated before, the client have to re-enable aero and uac, how do
they do it? if they bearly know how to turn-on a computer? does the server
provides a step by step after the connection is closed?.

3-Is there a user manual some were?, that will help a lot to answer many Q's

I hope this Q's are not dumb, but I read the whole tread and I didn't see the
answers (I hope I didn't miss them )
Many thanks for your effort :wink:

Just tried to use this. When I go to create client file it gives me an error.

"Unable to execute upx.exe to compress stub file"

I am running Windows 7 64bit. So I tried setting upx.exe to run in XP compatibility mode which seems to have gotten me past that error.

Now I get an Aut2exe error, "Unable to create the compiled archive".

At the moment it doesnt support 64bit. What you can try with the "Unable to create the compiled archive", is to disable your User Access Control (UAC) and see if that helps. This program was tested with Win7 32-bit and worked like a charm :)

Latest update 18 Feb 2010...Read about all the "Updates and Amendments" here --->

http://www.mariuscomputers.co.za/updates.html

No more "tedious" clicks for the client to get access to you. He/she only need to open helpdesk.exe and restart their PC. Once their PC has restarted, they just need to click on Connect Now...The reason for the RESTART is due to the UAC of Vista and Win7.

Hi me 'ol friend...Glad you're still around ;)
Yep...I live/stay in South Africa, and brother, keep your eyes and ears on the news and you'll see with what type of "sh!t" were living here :(
the whole country is going up for grabs!
I even compiled a utility that monitor's our ADSL lines as it's on..off..on..off....the whole freekin time.
Anyways, keep well mate and KEEP THEM PROGGIE ROLLIN!!! :)
Forgot 2 mention...My website is hosted in the USA as in South Africa...well...i'm not going to take that chance.

Ok, this is now OFF TOPIC, but to all the folks not living in this country...If you're coming this side for the world cup soccer, just ALWAYS look after your children...I emphasis this as I'm nearly 50 years old and was born here...so i know what's happening. Beautiful, country but VERY poorly managed. Lots of child-syndicates here too (so i have been told). Also, thieves, etc will pry on the weak and it will be easy for the BAD PEOPLE to spot a foreigner....the same as YOU can spot a foreigner...so just bare that in mind folks (I was mugged 4x already)...
Forgot 2 mention...If you come with family, try to "move" in groups...this might just save you from being robbed...

OFF TOPIC

I'm sorry to say Robin is not blowing this out of proportion, it's really bad here.

I'm afraid things will only get worse as the criminals are always connected with money and the police are corrupt. So much for our rainbow nation.

It is true children are being kidnapped now for the pedo's for 2010. There are 2340 cases open for child abductions since July 2009. They drug them them with heroin and once your in you cannot kick it. This is the God honest truth.

Not everyone in South Africa is like this, but if you are willing to kill someone for a 50c cake there is something wrong here and badly.

Keep up the good work Robin

Just an idea-
Add a very basic initial client GUI.
Just a connect button and other essentials to get you in there.
No wizards, restart etc.

Then once the tech gets in they he hits a "tech mode" btn or something to that effect.

Helps prevent really stupid user from getting anyway confused.
My favorite line, "never underestimate the power of stupidity" lol

Eish bro...If i have to ammend the program to everyones request, i'll keep coding till the daisies rise ;)
I have done it before (changing the GUI), but surely, there is only ONE big button on the whole interface...just tell the customer to leave the rest be :)
In the latest version, he just need to open the helpdesk and click quick restart pc...Once the pc has started, he just need to click on the "connect" button (Unfortunatly this move is a MUST due to the UAC involve...)

Hi Marius,
I'm new in this Remote Access Control software, so I have some questions:
1- Do I need to have UltraVNC (1.0.8.2) installed first, and if so...
2-What other software is necessary (viewer, repeater, etc..)to install the Uvnc Plugin (RAC)...?
3- What also do I need to start the free version..?

Thanks,
Jorge.

No you dont need anything...All files needed is already embedded into RAC. There IS a DOC file included that will help. All you need to do for starters, is create a Directory and "extract" the RAC.EXE file to it. Click on rac.exe and it will do the rest...
