VNC and MSLOGON authentication password usage?

Post by cajuntank »

I have a little older rev of UltraVNC deployed via group policy to my machines (XP Pro). I am now having to deploy Windows 7 machines in my domain and updating my UltraVNC. My question is, can I utilize both password authentication schemes?
I currently use the MSLOGON scheme and it works fine, but my Internet filtering appliance has a cool feature that will initiate a record of desktop upon a rule violation using VNC, but it only works with VNC password authentication and not MSLOGON authentication.

Ok, based on posting [topic=27163][/topic] I guess the answer is no. So my follow up would be if I wanted to switch from MSLOGON to VNC password authentication, would I have to uninstall all of my VNC, then re-install or is there an easier way?

You don't need to re-install the UVNC.

You may either:
1. Have somesone (having admin right) to change this setting at UltraVNC's admin setting manually, or

2. Use a script to change the file ultravnc.ini (which holding the ultravnc setting), and restart the uvnc_service.
