ChunkVNC - Use of the repeater

ChunkVNC - Use of the repeater

Post by Noli »

Please help me to understand the use of the repeater. It is used only for the connection stage, or also ALL the traffic between the client and the server goes trough the repeater?

Another question: is it possible to install the repeater in the same PC as the "technician" end?

Regards.

Not just for connections, YES, "ALL the traffic between the client and the server goes through the repeater".

This obviously has a potential impact on response times and bandwidth use. There is a new development of the "NAT2NAT" UltraVNC feature that may get around this issue (establishing direct NAT-penetrating connections after the initial handshake).

Yes, absolutely, the repeater can be installed on ANY machine, including the viewer OR the server PC. I believe this is addressed in the Chunk documentation.
