Recommendation for Gentoo

Post by shdawson »

Hi,

I have been using UltraVNC on my Vista box for quite a while now. Connect to it with an XP box. All works well.

Have a friend who has Gentoo. Building/Configuring something for Gentoo is preferable for the Gentoo box than going with a per-built software package.

What recommendations are there for the Gentoo box, please?

Thank you very much.

Kindly,
SHD

Went with TigerVNC listening viewer on the Gentoo box. Connected through SSH from box to box. Works fine.

x11vnc is a great vnc server ... allows massive amounts of customisation, but steep learning curve to get it running ...

also, vnc2me can be used from a windows machine to connect to and from a linux box, as the session code is just a forwarded port number ... so you cane setup x11vnc to connect to a listening viewer on port 12345 then use that as you session code for v2m viewer and your away ... or you can setup a listening viewer on port 12345 and use that as the session code for v2m sharing and your away ... enjoy :D
