How to get CTRL-ALT-SPACE sequence sent to the remote machin

Post by wastenot »

I'm connecting from Windows 7 using UltraVNC version 1.0.962 (as seen from the Control Panel) to a remote Linux machine running a VNC server (remote machine is RHEL6). The CTRL-ALT-SPACE sequence is not being received. The key press and release events for the CTRL and ALT key sequences are being sent but the SPACE is not (as verified using the xev utility supplied by the X server package running on the remote Linux machine).

This is not unique to SPACE, but all alphabetic keys are "hidden" from the remote when CTRL-ALT is held down. I noticed that multiple key press and release events are reported by the xev program when it is held down, so I don't know if that is a factor here.

What can I do to have all of those bindings be sent properly?
