UVNC2me blocked by Windows Firewall

Post by rcaddy »

I have an issue with UVNC2me where windows firewall on windows 7 blocks UVNC2me under a restricted user. I have created a rule under Win firewall for the outbound and I have tried it without the rule, since the default for outgoing is to allow. In the rule I told it to allow all protocols under all profiles on any port. The path that is blocked by the Win 7 Firewall is c:\users\username\appdata\local\temp\7-zip_temporary.tmp\uvnc2me.exe

Of course the 7-zip_temporary.tmp changes every time. Even though I tell the rule to allow the program it still gives the error. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Uvnc2me is a sfx archive, this mean that each time you execute it it extract himself to a temp file. This makes it impossible to allow the file in the firewall.

If you want to preinstall the you better manual un7zip the uvnc2me.exe in a folder and create a shortcut to the exe to start it.

I will give that a shot Rudi. I will let you know how that works for anyone else that may have this issue.

Your suggestion of expanding the file ahead of time did solve my initial problem. By doing so, I was able to allow uvnc2me through the firewall and connect without issue. I tested this several times on 2 different machines. I still seem to have some issues connecting however and I am trying to track that down. In testing, on 2 machines that are not restricted by user settings or that firewall I am able to connect but the screen will pixelate, lock up the connection, and disconnect. Any thoughts?
