Server keeps closing ...

Post by burzek »

Hi,

I am running W7 X64 SP1 ; 1.2.0.6 x64 with mirror driver enabled.

When I connect from an adsl line, vnc server keeps disconecting me, I try connecting again and again after 2-3 tries, I can not connect anymore.
Here is my vncviewer settings.

The client is XP SP3.
This stability problem is very annoying in the latest release of 1.2.0.x series.
Is it not possible to make Uvnc more stable ? Especially for slow connections?
Please help.
Thanks.

A adsl line should be fine.... are you connected wireless to the router.

Can you fast test if the 1.2.0.8 test-build makes a difference

I'm current checking debugging source for possible leaks/disconnects/locks and try to find ways to repat lockups.

In your case
server win7 cpu ? ( slow/fast)
viewer ( independed)
estimated bandwidth
Anything that can help to repeat it...

Hi Rudi,

The server was in my home pc, i5 2310 cpu , 8 gb ram , nvidia 8600 geforce graphics card powerful pc.
I was connected remotely over adsl , but it is not the bandwidth.
When I went home, I tried to connect from my iphone via local wireless and the vnc client kept closing, mentioning network connection loss.

I checked the server saw there was 4 winvnc.exe running.
Due to similar problems, previously I had created a batch file every hour it shuts down uvnc service and starts it again.
net stop uvnc_service
net start uvnc_service
This is inside a cmd file. Being run by every hour.
I stopped the service and killed all winvnc.exe in memory , and run the service again it worked normal again.
This time I added "taskkill /f /im winvnc*" into the cmd file after the "net stop ..." line.
So if the service does not shutdown normally, all the winvnc.exe in memory will be closed by the system. Then the service will start normally.

This will be a workaround but, there is definitely stability problems. I advise during tests, connecting and ending connection and connecting again from client , so see the stability. Especially I can advise running a torrent file and letting it use all the upload bandwidth or arranging some bandwidth like 20kb to reserved for your upload connection to test the vnc server in slow connections.

I can check the new beta but a week later, I will not be able to do it now.
Thanks,
Burzek

ok,
I did test as follow
server on a slow win10
viewer start with a script ( script is started 3x)
This cont connect 3 viewers and kill them.
------------
:loop
start vncviewer -connect 1.2.3.4
timeout /t 12
taskkill /f /im vncviewer.exe
timeout /t 6
goto loop
