test winvnc.exe [-autoreconnect[ ID:????]]

Post by Rudi De Vos »

Bug fix:
256+mirror driver had sometimes inverted colors

Patch added to support command line
[-autoreconnect[ ID:????]]

As i could not find time enough for extensive testing, i hope some of you
can make some time free for it. Special if you also wanted (-ID) from command line.

Patch was made by the people from statuspro.tv.. so blame or fame
go to them :D

Before you say..version numbers where not updated. Use this exe just for testing the new stuff..nothing else changed.
As we moved from RC to Rel, we need to combine changed, so we only have 3-4 updates a year. A real update will be later.

command line winvnc autoreconnect with ID
winvnc.exe -autoreconnect ID:1234 -connect repeater_host::5500

vncviewer 1.0.1 quick option=modem

1 vncviewer 1.0.1 connected to repeater 1.0.4
2 vnc server 1.0.1 patched connected repeater, no authentication needed
3 .. followed by viewer closed immediately WriteExact: Socket error while writing !
4. repeater 1.0.4 lost connection of winvnc 1.0.1 immediately after "no authentication needed" passed. then winvnc self-reconnect to repeater (because -autoreconnect active)

with the new version of vnc, could you store all settings in xml file in stead of rigistry? that would be awesome.

no new feature for vnc server 1.0x, only fix

so, -autoreconnect and -id was missing on the full release command line usage for winvnc "full" a long time ago request. Now finally added and greatly appreciated.
SC of my knowledge, is only the "light" version of full ultravnc server.
is the reason, why there added this function normally need to exist.

so, your request is very new feature and can only added to next winvnc higher than just fix release.

Rudi...

Thank you for letting us know of the update. The addition of ID and Autoreconnect is fabulous! I'll be testing it extensively and if any problems occur, i'll be sure to let you know!

Redge: I don't understand. I thought Rudi fixed this and released it as a Patch?

Confused

Post by Vinzz »

I'm a bit confused...

1)
I tried -autoreconnect with the official 1.0.1 and when i close my viewer, the server reconnects.
With the new version in the V2 folder, if I close the viewer the server does NOT reconnect.
The test is done without the ID parameter.

2)
With the official version when I close the viewer it DOES reconnect. If I close down the listener completely and restart the listener after a while (let us say 1 minute) the server does NOT reconnect. Is there a timeout somewhere? Or a max reconnect retry? If yes, is it possible to alter it?

Thanks a million!

Vincent

I would like to be able to use the -ID:???? switch separately without -autoreconnect .

Is there any chance for patch supporting this ?

Thanks

how many time the server try to reconnect with the autoreconnect option?
Is this option work with repeater? because when i try winvnc.exe -autoreconnect ID:131 -connect localhost::443 and my repeater is on the same computer listenning on port 443 it don't work.

I hacked the source code to make my own version that connects through a repeater with an ID from the command line. This way I can change the host, port, and ID on the fly.

It uses the full version of winvnc and not single click. Is that what's being discussed here?

Chris,

Yes - this is exactly what I need.
Is there any chance to include this hack into the upcoming official version 1.0.3, so it will be possible to use the -ID command line switch separately without -autoreconnect ?

Are you in touch with UNVC developers ?

Thank you very much

I'm not part of the development team, I just know enough C/C++ to be dangerous. It took a bit of time to parse the code and be able to follow it through. I also removed a lot of the routines and functionality that I don't need.

Update_10July.zip (removed unix/linux style but still exist for background compatibility)
all tests success, verified today between uvnc 104 to uvnc 104 (10 July 2008)
enjoy your remote support/remote control :-)

now possible, after 2 years ;-)
winvnc -ID:30011973 -connect 192.168.1.20:5500 -run
or
winvnc -id:30011973 -connect 192.168.1.20:5500 -run

winvnc -autoreconnect ID:12345678 -run
or
winvnc -autoreconnect id:12345678 -run

12345678 is an example number (0-99999999 available )

-run (required at end of line, otherwise, nothing, winvnc self close)
