The maximum is a bit over 340 years or so. Don't keep your customers waitng that long. They might find another tech. :D
Nah, most of my clients are "hooked" on my customer service.

I am having trouble, though, with the module not responding if I don't respond to the prompt right away.

It has to recycle if the connection times out so it might take a minute to re-try. If it doesn't connect back within less than a minute let me know.
Most of the time it never retries unless the client manually uninstalls it and runs it again. I'm going to run some local tests tonight.

OK, I ran some tests with the most recent beta, and I found I have an approximately 30-second window to click "Yes" on the VNCViewer prompt. After that, I lose any ability to connect unless the customer module is uninstalled and ran again on the remote machine. I'm using a direct connection (no repeater or proxy, no Remote Start, no Delayed Start). I've tinkered with a number of settings with the same results. I'm using the included viewer...could that be the problem?

Definitely better, but I now get a new prompt every 30 seconds if I don't respond. Better than no reconnect, but I can see my screen filling up with prompts if I'm away for 10 minutes. I suppose I can close my listener when not needed, though.

I LOVE AskUserName!!! Will we be able to customize the prompt? I'd like to be able to ask them type their issue in. How about a countdown to auto-connect if no typing occurs? My more regular clients just double-click my icon, click "Yes" on the WebStart prompt, and leave. Since the AskUserName prompt takes 10-15 seconds to appear, some clients might not see it. I still want the option for those that do. Also, can clicking OK let them bypass the prompt. Right now, it acts like cancel if the field is blank.

Thanks!

Also, will the final build uninstall itself if the tech refuses the connection?

(Edit: Nevermind...it does now.)

If I close my viewer (or restart my computer), the client's computer shows the "Technician Selection" dialogue box. Is there a setting to make it automatically attempt to reconnect? I only want direct/automatic connections for each module. Should I delete all the files from the "Configs" folder?

Also (this is more of an annoyance I can handle if I must), whenever I do certain things on the remote machine like log on to a user's desktop, log off, switch to the Welcome Screen, etc., the customer module/service seems to stop and then start again after a few seconds, causing my viewer to close and then re-open. Is there anything I can do to stop that?

This sounds like the problem I was having. Make sure you have the latest beta. More precisely, make sure your client is using the latest beta

Advantig wrote:Edit: The program was looking for ConnectTimeout= (old label) instead of RetryTimeOut= which the new config has in it. If you change ReTryTimeOut to ConnectTimeout it will work ok, or better yet, download the new beta. The program has been changed to look for RetryTimeout in the new beta and was just uploaded. It also has the RetryTimeoutMode= option
0 = show connect dialog (default)
1 = auto-uninstall
Is RetryTimeoutMode what it does after the RetryTimeout is over?

(Edit: Nevermind. I just RTFM! :) )

Do you plan to increase the price of RemoteZilla or change license conditions? I would like to wait for stable release to pay you :)

Is anyone else having trouble with 2.0 running in XP's "Safe Mode with Networking"? It isn't even listed as a process.

Created a customer module with our IP and repeater port and then hard coded an ID of 203. When I ran it on the test machine, the repeater showed a random ID of something other than 203 (1579245 or something). When I run the Technician_RepeaterViewer.exe I get 7zip 'cannot find setup.exe'.

I just needed to tell you that this is probably my new favorite feature! I was working on 3 remote jobs last night, and when this feature is combined with Window 7's thumbnails (Aero Peek?) of all instances of a program, it makes things so nice!!! Switching between machines is easy (no more guessing!) and I can sit here and watch the progress of ALL the machines and know which machine is which.

Thank you Phil, and thank you to whomever requested this feature!

Re: OneClick - Vista SC w/Reboot & Reconnect & XP Sa

Post by compupane »

Im having MAJOR issues this weekend. After uninstalling and rerunning the customer module (on a machine where it had been working fine), I get a Windows error about the "Remote Desktop Service." Closing the error just makes it return. Only solution is to remove the rz_service by hand and restart. Turns out that the only file being extracted into the program folder is RZ.exe (sometimes RZ.txt). This has happened on 2 Vista machines so far where the RemoteZilla had been working fine... Same module runs fine on at least a Windows 2k3 machine. It is driving me nuts. Any ideas?

Still having the problem. So, you think RZ.exe is being killed for some reason? Could DEP be killing it? Hmmmmmmm...
