So, I implemented a "goodbye" message, and that is now appearing within seconds of the client entering his/her name. So, it is being ended automatically somehow.

I just found this in the system log of the event viewer:

"The rz_service service is marked as an interactive service. However, the system is configured to not allow interactive services. This service may not function properly."

I'm having issues with the final release (4/28 and 4/30 both). The beta customer module and viewer worked fine, these do not (at least when the customer modules and run on Server 2003 machines). It's like the customer module isn't even trying to run.

I've made the move from OneClick to RemoteZilla and so far so good!

However, if the Remote Computer and the Viewing Computer are on the same network RemoteZilla doesn't work.

When the .exe file is executed on the Remote PC there is no notification on the Viewing PC and it just times out.

OneClick didn't have this problem.

I have been having a similar problem with one of my local machines, a vista box. Seems mine is an encryption issue. The vista box can't handle encryption. Either as a viewer or a server, nor can it generate keys. I must have done something to it a while ago and will probably have to reinstall the OS.

Point is, try it without encryption. If that works, than one or more of your machines could be encryption challenged or using a different key.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm not using encryption. So it must be something else.
Are you able to use RemoteZilla on a machine on your same network?

Can anyone tell me how to keep the Viewer "listening" when in proxy/repeater mode. Whenever I disconnect from a computer, the Viewer unloads from memory. It doesn't do that when listening in direct mode.

I just tried that, but as soon as I closed the Viewer window, it removed itself from the Repeater service. The Viewer stayed in the system tray, but only as a "direct" listener. I want to switch to completely using the Repeater so I can use my main computer to provide support when I'm in the office and on my netbook when I'm away from the office, using a single customer module. However, I don't want to connect to the Repeater 50 times a day.

Finally up and running – even on my Vista machine!

What a grand improvement over OneClick (which was pretty good itself).

One point of frustration I am running into, however, is I am not able to “add viewers”. I would like to do that so I can keep the initial login procedure a “One Click” affair for incoming clients and then “move” the call to a different machine in the shop once we are connected.

Any tips?

I'm having a LOT of trouble getting my RemoteZilla 2.0.1.0 module to run on Vista & Win7 machines. As soon as clients enter their name, the session automatically ends. I'd say it happens 4/5 times on Vista & Win7 machines.

There are serious issues with RZ 2.0.1.0. It's nowhere near ready for prime time. I have reported such issues to the vendor, without resolution. That said, try turning off encryption for testing - RZ becomes more stable then. Sure, running without encryption isn't a viable option in practice in many cases, but it will help narrow down your issues.
