Blank monitor in JavaApplet or some other way..

Post by gutterballk7 »

I tend to find myself using something other than the default VNC Viewer... either I use the 5800 port viewer, or I am on a Linux machine using the remote desktop viewer software it has.

I tend to remote control my computer from work while I am on my campus. When I don't have access to a Windows machine, I cannot use Windows Remote Desktop Connection (and when I get Vista, I will be deprived of my Remote Desktop totally!). However, when I am using the remote control via the Java Applet or Linux viewer... I cannot blank the screen. My roommate finds it entertaining to try and manipulate or watch my computer while I am working on it remotely with VNC and am lacking the ability to blank the monitor.

I've searched through posts, and I'm pretty sure nobody has requested the blank screen feature for the Java Applet... but I would really appreciate it if there was an automatic blanking feature (yes, I know that was previously requested) or at least the ability to, lets say, click on the VNC icon, or click on something somewhere that would let me blank the screen. (Because you don't want someone standing in front of your computer watching your every move  )

By the way, I love UltraVNC, especially the viewer for Windows... and it doesn't crash as much as [other VNC client].

Thanks.
