Proposal: installer checksum downloaded add-on files

Post by zwz »

The UltraVNC installer downloads three files from http://sc.uvnc.com/: namely SCHook.dll, cad.exe and Ultravnc_driver_Setup.exe. A glance at UltraVnc_installer_script.iss didn't find any checksumming statement. Is it possible to do SHA1 checksumming after downloading files using isxdl.dll in the Inno installer?

It seems to me that NSIS is more feature-rich than Inno Setup.

It has a variety of plugins, including a download plugin
<http://nsis.sourceforge.net/InetLoad_plug-in>, and a Cypto plugin <http://nsis.sourceforge.net/Crypto_plug-in> which provides all sorts of hash algorithms.

I wish I could help write an NSIS script for UltraVNC. But I don't have a ready build environment and the learning curve is steep for me.
