SC Listener Shuts down network connection

Post by scoful »

I recently updated my VNCSC setup to include encryption, the newest version of SC, Vista support, disable desktop effects, automatically install the video hook driver and sets up remote printing support.

The problem I'm having is that when some clients connect (maybe 1 in 15) the screen draws their desktop and SC freezes.

The bigger problem is that when this happens, my network connection quits working all together until a reboot! Disabling and re-enabling, restarting services etc. doesn't do anything - I have to fully reboot the system. I use a terminal server so that I can assist from anywhere (and for other reasons of course).

I'm running windows 2003 R2 with Symantec Endpoint Protection.

I can't imagine the SC package is the problem since it's happening on the listening end. I've thought about trying a different spam of listener but don't know if it'll be able to use the right encryption.

Any ideas?

Does this also affect XP?

Have had the same happen with XP listener.

I've applied the patch - hopefully it will do the trick.
