Forced Remote Restart

Post by Gumbi »

I hate it when as remote machine locks up somehow, and then you need to manual reset it, which in some cases requires you to actually press the damn power button. Is there any way to force a remote restart. If not it would be a great feature to add.

I second this request. I had problems in the past and that the worst thing that can happen.

To implement it you would need some form of extra-stable
demon which can kill automatically a vnc process and make it restart.

In Windows, I edit the VNC Service recovery options to "Restart the Service" for the first 2 attempts, then "Restart the Computer" for the final recovery attempt.

Works well for me. Other OSes may have similar functionality.
