Awesome, glad to hear you figured it out.

Sounds like you could use a reinstall of Windows or a thorough OS cleaning but I have seen certain older hardware randomly hate Vista/7 especially Nforce3/4, Via and SiS chipsets.

I suggest you stick with just Avira antivirus, I don't really think anyone needs more security than that on a desktop but thats just me... It would have saved you this headache! :P

Damn, supercoe is right, yet again!

He called this back on post #6:
The windows firewall doesn't block outgoing connections so you'll be ok with that on. I've seen ZoneAlarm continue to block things even when disabled, try uninstalling completely.
Only thing is, I thought you had tried it from multiple PCs?

Anyway, "apology" accepted, and glad to hear it's working well for you now. :)
