Hi,
i am new to this software an i want to use it for my customers instead of using Deskshare, usually they have no other open ports than 80.
i want to know if:
1. pchelpware works too if, the server has only port 80 available to connect through?
Im not sure if this works for proxy, which needs 443...?
2.Do i need to set up the proxymode when i use the repeater on our server and connecting with several viewer clients?
3.Can i use more than one connection through the repeater at the same time with the same server exe?
If you know Deskshare maybe someone can just tell me what is different...
Thank you
Fraggle

Re: Difference between PCHelpWare and Deskshare?
You do not have to open any ports for the PCHelpWare server (what your client will use). Unlike most servers which listen for a client, with PCHelpWare the client listens for the server. If you use direct connection mode then you will have to open ports on the client side (for your computer). If you use a repeater only the computer with the repeater needs to have ports open to it. The client and the server can then both be behind firewalls if a repeater is used.
If you do use PCHelpWare, make sure that the viewer is on a machine with a decent video card and that directx 9c is supported by the card and installed on the computer. If you do not have directx 9c the viewer will switch to GDI mode which lags terribly. Directx mode can be run in full color and is almost like being there if you have a decent broadband connection on each end.
The instructions on the project are limited and it can seem difficult to setup. Please stick with it and give it a try. Once you get it working you will be happy you made the investment. The interface is a little rough around the edges, but can easily be cleaned up with a little programming knowledge (Visual C++) or by using a utility such as Resource Hacker (very little if any programming knowledge required. It just lets you tweak the interface.). I strongly recommend using the SC GUI.
I have never used Deskshare before. Sorry. I would be more than happy to answer any further questions about UVNC SC or PCHelpWare, both of which I have used to support my clients.
Best regards,
Joseph (Gator I.T.)

Thanks very much for the info.
Now im gettin things clearer and will further test it on some clients.
Im convinced that it could be a good alternative to DS and i will post my feedback and experiences
