Wallpaper is stretched after disconnecting

Post by fault »

We have a corporate wallpaper that is centred on the screen. After disconnecting from the server, the wallpaper is no longer centred, but stretched instead. This makes it look terrible! Any fix?

I think that has been a bug in previous versions but it is still not fixed... ;( Can't you just set it to respect the previous settings (i.e., prior to removing the wallpaper when a client connects)?

Thanks.

tested and confirmed, wallpaper is streched after vncviewer disconnect.
log off/on will restore the wallpaper at is factory size

wallpaper auto removed on viewer request enabled.

+ change the wallpaper while vncviewer is connected to server
will crash the winvnc and uvnc restart, OK

Thanks for confirming redge.

I can also confirm that if you enter Control Panel > Display Properties > Desktop after the client disconnects, the selected background still has the "Centre" setting, which matches your finding of logging off/on again to fix restoring the background non-stretched and centred. In other words, it's not messing with the settings in the HKCU registry nor reading them out again, so it seems like UltraVNC is hard coded to put the wallpaper back stretched?

A workaround is to configure the wallpaper to not be removed upon client connection -- but of course you lose the bandwidth savings ;(

Can we get this logged as an official bug?

Hi redge & rudi,

I tried your proposed workaround by unticking "Remove Aero (Vista)" on my Windows XP SP3 computer, but upon disconnecting, it still stretches the wallpaper! :(
