Hi there I have been using uvnc for many years and I have not come across a problem like the one I am having now. I've been searching for a couple of weeks to find a solution but can't seem to find one on the boards here. A bit of background on the setup:
Server: Vista x64, running 1.0.8.2 in services mode
Client: XP, running 1.0.8.2
Not using any plugins.
Depending on whether I am connecting over my LAN or across the country, I select the appropriate configuration (LAN,Medium, Modem) and don't use the auto feature (that never works right for me). I have this problem though regardless of the connection speed.
Basically what happens is I open up VNC and can connect pretty much instantly. The screen takes 5-10 second to show up, but then it seems to work as fast/smooth as can be expected over the various connection speeds. But after about 30 seconds to a minute, each and every time, it freezes. 1/10 times it comes back after 30 more seconds, the other 9/10 times I get a weird error message that says "Server running as application." After this if I close or kill VNC viewer I can reconnect to the server as if there wasn't a problem and the cycle starts over again.
I did some searches on the forums about the error, and first let me say I am not running a Norton product of any kind, so that can't be the problem. My firewall is Comodo with proper security on vnc, and I have the connection tunneled through my router port properly.
I use uVNC daily and it gets to be a pain when I have to do some long and involved tasks in 30 second increments.
Is there any more info you guys need to diagnose (log file of some sort)?
Thanks in advance,
B
