Saving password in .vnc file
Saving password in .vnc file
Hi there,
I've got a problem with "save connection info as..." feature. When i save connection info to a .vnc file, i answer "yes" to the question about saving password inside this file. But i double-click on this file, uvnc prompt me for the password ?
Is there a bug inside 1.0.9.6.1 version? Can i modify something in order that work ?
Thanks
TTIOT
P.S : Sorry for my poor english

Re: Saving password in .vnc file
The .vnc file is able to save the native VNC password only.
If you are using the Pass Phrase feature of SecureVNC, it will not be saved inside the .vnc file

Re: Saving password in .vnc file
The password I mentionned IS the native VNC password.
The window which prompt for the password is this one :

And the password is define here :

This is this password you called "Native VNC password" ?

Re: Saving password in .vnc file
Yes the secureVNC plugin is used. This is why the VNC Password is prompted ?
Re: Saving password in .vnc file
Correct, UltraVNC is handing off the encryption to the plugin and as YY stated the UltraVNC Viewer will not save the password in this circumstance.
Obviously insecure but you could send the Viewer a password over command line: http://uvnc.net/install/cmdline.html
You could also utilize SecureVNC's keys instead of a passphrase.

Re: Saving password in .vnc file
Hi,
I too have a problem with "save connection info as..." feature. When I save connection info to a .vnc file, and answer "yes" to the question about saving password inside this file, I’m still prompted for the password? I’m running 1.0.9.5, and am, NOT using the SecureVNC plugin.
This is a new problem for me, and I’m at a loss as to what else to try. Any thoughts, or constructive criticism, would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Re: Saving password in .vnc file
By chance, there is an option of vncviewer.exe, which allows to send the passphrase to the VNC server?
Thanks

Yep, you can see the command line options here: http://www.uvnc.com/install/cmdline.html
What you need to use is vncviewer.exe -password YourPasswordHere

Actually, I meant the passphrase needed by the SecureVNC Plug-In.
Thanks
