Feature: Add Address Book

Post by MACK »

When there are several servers that a person connects to, its hard to keep track of which IP in the connection list matches the correct server.
It would be convenient to have something like:

IP:Port | Description
192.168.1.100:5000 This is joes server.
192.168.1.105:5000 Bill's server
etc...

Thanks.

Just use name resolution. If DNS is an option then use the DNS name of the computer as registered. If not, add entries to your computer's HOSTS file:

192.168.1.100 Joe
192.168.1.105 Bill

Then you can connect to Joe or Bill instead of the IP address.

I have found VNCHelper to do that sort of thing.. it is very easy to use and portable too.
