Workgroups and Domains

Post by Alagazam »

Hi

I have this computer setup and trying to use MSLogon II.
On the server I can't add DOM/user2 to the computers administrator group, neither add it to the VNC accesslist.
Is there som way to solve this or do i have to login manually every time?

Computer 1:
Win2000 Pro (fully updated)
Computer name: W2k
Workgroup: WG
User: user1 (administrator)
UltraVNC server

Computer 2:
WinXP Pro SP1
Computer name: WXP
Domain: DOM
User: DOM/user2 (computer admin, but not domain admin)
UltraVNC Client

You have to join Computer 1 to the Domain DOM.
Then you can add DOM/user2 to Computer1/Administrators as well as the the VNC access list.

You have to join Computer 1 to the Domain DOM.
I keep having these strange thoughts any one know why? xx(xx(

Maybe you're misinterpreting something here

Computer 1 is member of Workgroup WG.
This is the reason why you can't add a domain user to an ACL.
BTW, this is a security feature.

So either you join this computer to the domain, or you have to use a local user for authentication.

The situation is the same for security settings for files or folders.
Right-click on a file, select Properties, go to the Security Settings tab.
You won't be able to add DOM\user2 as long as computer 1 is not joined to the domain.
