Re: Issue with MS Logon
I've been testing uVNC in application mode so I can more quickly test a setting, stop it, change a setting, start it, etc. Turns out, MSLogon auth doesn't work unless uVNC is running with Administrator credentials. My VNC folder is in 'Program Files' so I'm not sure if that's affecting the required ...

The auth issue may be on my end as I can't get any version of uVNC to work on my test system. I'll post the results once I figure out what's going on.

Re: Issue with MS Logon
I use uVNC 1.2.2 with MSLogon on Windows 10 without issue. I just started trying 1.3.3 dev8 and the only problem I have is the authentication is never successful. If I turn off MSLogon, I can connect via password just fine.

Re: Custom Image for Screen Blanking
I would love the screen blanking feature to be improved. I know MS broke it a while back with some underlying video changes, but something better would be nice. At least a message letting anyone in front of the server know it is being controlled and to have some patience...

Just an FYI, the person who wrote the MSLogon enhancement no longer works on this project. We're pretty fortunate it works as well as it does because I don't think any changes have been made to that part of the project in a very long time.

Re: Feature: Add Address Book
Just use name resolution. If DNS is an option then use the DNS name of the computer as registered. If not, add entries to your computer's HOSTS file:
192.168.1.100 Joe
192.168.1.105 Bill
Then you can connect to Joe or Bill instead of the IP address.

UltraVNC is Windows-only software. It interoperates with any VNC platform that keeps to the standard, though.

I'm getting conflicting descriptions of the problem...
You CAN connect to this computer via VNC, and the only problem is you cannot send a CTRL+ALT+DEL?
Is uVNC running as a service and have you enabled SAS on the WinXP computer?

At its core, VNC provides remote access to the computer's screens. This means what the remote viewer sees and what the person in front of the computer sees are the same.

I'm not sure if UltraVNC SC supports the Secure VNC Plugin, so it could be that. If that's not it, then I'm not going to be of any additional assistance as I don't use UltraVNC SC myself.

Make a command line parameter that allows the user to open the viewer specifying the top left pixel position.
Useful
Also have a mode where the screen tells you what position the top left pixel location is.

That sounds very odd. I use "netstat -a" to verify TCP 5900 (or w/e it's configured to) is in a LISTENING state.
I would troubleshoot this with the most basic and straight-forward config possible:
[X] Accept Socket Connections

Re: Hide the Screen from Remote Desktop User
RDP is the simplest option for accomplishing this.
If you can only use VNC to connect, you could RDP to the desired computer (CompA) from another one (CompB) and then connect to the other computer (CompB) via VNC. You would just need to run an instance of winvnc.exe inside the RDP session. It's a ...

This must be the most impressive bump I've ever seen. Over 3 years later and by the original author!
And to be on topic...I would also benefit from such a feature as almost everyone at my company has multiple monitors, and this would make interaction with them much quicker and more seamless.

Where does this "list" of "manage computers" come from? AD, LDAP, RADIUS, SQL, CSV file, TXT file? Rudi could always take on a project like this, but it doesn't sound very much worth the time when proper VNC Managers are already available.

Re: Importing an ACL via GPO
Create a batch file or a script file that performs the operation you need, and then setup a GPO to run that file.
From your post I can't tell if you've gotten a process down to make the security change, but if you haven't you aren't ready for the GPO part of it yet.

Sure
GPOs can push registry settings directly or run scripts, which is what we are already doing here.
