unnecessarily fine system timer resolution

Post by pjmesq »

there is a problem with most versions of the uvnc server. a call to initSDTimer results in setting the internal o/s system timing
resolution to its minimum period. this means more than 1000 interrupts per second. this is a problem on windows xp and
windows 7. this setting remains in force as long as the server is running.

the effect of this is serious for platforms with realtime requirements as well as platforms with limited power resources.

it is not clear why the standard timing resolution (about 16 milliseconds) not sufficient for the server's needs.

can this be fixed or patched?

many thanks for your attention to this...
